THE BOOKS & MAGAZINE OUTDOOR TRAVELING DIRECT SALES MARKETING BUSINESS.
When a well known popular industry or franchise like Wendy's or McDonalds hire people and some of these employee's turn out to be problematic or abusive and are caught spitting in the foods they prepare or some other atrocity does that mean that the industry or business as a whole is bad???
Human nature and behavioral actions are often a phenomena when adults tend to act or perform in an eratic or dangerous manner out of either greed selfishness contempt hate anger or cheer stupidity and ignorance that may later work to hurt themselves or others and in many cases may tarnish the name image or reputation of the company or Organization for which they are a part of because people don't remember individual names but rather the company business organization or establisment their affiliated with so when someone messes up the company takes the fall for their actions.
Even though many companies or organizations do everything in their power to enforce laws rules & regulations or better safer programs and policies to protect it's name company, employee's and customers but human nature in people that are a ticking time bomb will always find ways to screw up.
I'm saying all this because in our industry as a outdoor traveling direct sales marketing business which has been around for over 100 years and is one of the oldest form of direct sales marketing even though it's been updated and advanced to keep up with the times our vast clientel is still through door to door or business to business cold calling.
YES our type of industry is some what unorthodox or unconventional becasue it's not like your regular run of the mill 9 to 5 job and we live travel and work with our job traveling throughout the U.S.A. and staying at quality hotels and motels set up kind of college dormitory style and so it becomes our second home.
We hire people 18 and over and do background checks before hire and we also enforce company rules & regulations like We do not allow alcoholic beverage on week nights nor any drugs of any kind not prescribed by a Doctor on crew in rooms company vehicle or in the field. We enforce a week night curfew at 12 AM during week nights because you need to get proper rest to prepare for the upcoming days work and everyone must be in morning meeting by 9AM we do not condone or allow any fighting on the crew, We have a THREE STRIKES YOUR OUT law meaning twice we'll warn you when you screw up the third time you will receive a prepaid ticket back to from where you were hired.
Although it is a casual & comfortable wear industry where you are allowed to wear jeans and sneakers in the field we must still look presentable and professional so MEN must be well shaved hair cut clean clothes and wearing a tie"and we also provide the reps with everything needed to learn the industry and succeed like we will provide you with a trainer that will assist you in successfully closing orders and learning the business a car handler that will take you to & from work we will provide you with the materials needed and territory to *get started* while working at your own pace so EVERYBODY from your manager your trainer your room leader and your car handler will work with you to make sure you SUCCEED because you see" when you SUCCEED they SUCCEED and when you MOVE UP they MOVE UP.
Now here's where it gets sticky'
Our sales reps are independent contractors they make their income by commission only with daily and weekly cash bonuses set up as an incentive to help people progress and do better and also an opportunity to win company cash awards. Now even though we teach daily seminars for free on how to handle rejections or keep a postive attitude some people still can't handle rejections they cave in to peer preasure and some may result into lying to the customer to make the sales or misrepresentation stealing etc.
When the company finds out they give warnings but these problematic agents now begin to partake in inappropriate activities while still on the crew like drinking smoking weed or taking other drugs getting into fights with their peers so since they were walking a type rope they now get fired and sent home so many leave with no money because they were already in the red squandring their earnings with bad habits and choices or screwing up receiving complaints and cancellations etc so rather than blaming themselves for their downfalls setbacks or failures they blame the company or organization because in many cases they are ashamed of going back home to their families without nothing to show for .
Now the company took a loss by providing room & board and even though they were not producing they would still receive monetary draws and week end advances so when they finally leave the company took a loss but over all it is an investment and a write off and many reps turn out to be great sales people and a benefit to the industry and themselves.
But again when these faling agents are sent home or fired rather than taking responsibility for their screw ups they blame the company or organization by saying they didn't pay them or treated them unfair or worked them like slaves or anything to plead their case or pass the blame
I do understand to an extent that the company bares certain responsibility for their employee's behaviors but when a person is acting negative they will tend to react in a reckless manner with no regards tro anyone but themselves they try to blame everyone even society for their failures rather than checking themselves.
Many people have gone to be successful out of this industry bought homes started other businesses made enough money to go back to school etc.
Many are still in the industry or learned from the industry to where their experience helped them launched other carreers in their home towns and then there are those who didn't make it or failed or didn't pan out
but over all the out door direct sales marketing industry is still a respectful successful lucrative industry and should not be judged over a few bad apples"
FAILURE IS MIND OVER MATTER * IF YOU DON'T MIND FAILING THEN IT WON'T MATTER"
